Mosquito Borne Diseases in India – Symptoms, Treatment & Prevention

October 12, 2024 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Mosquito-borne diseases or mosquito-borne illnesses are diseases caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites transmitted by mosquitoes. Nearly 700 million people contract mosquito-borne illnesses each year, resulting in more than a million deaths world wide.

Most of us know that malaria and dengue are spread by mosquitoes. Other diseases like chikungunya, filariasis, Japanese encephalitis and many others are less known but being seen in larger number these days. Symptoms from some of these diseases are not always easy to recognise.

Dr Senthur Nambi who is an Infectious Diseases Consultant at Apollo Hospitals has agreed to talk to our group on this topic. He is a graduate of Stanley Medical College and did his MD at Kilpauk Medical College. He is also a Fellow of the National Board in Infectious Diseases. He is a Governing Council Member, Clinical Infectious Diseases Society of India. He is an excellent clinician who explains everything clearly to his patients. Our members already know Dr. Nambi well as he had spoken to us on a different topic in the past. Members should expect a very interesting evening on 12th October.
