Here I place an article published in an ortho journal written by a friend of mine who is an orthopedic surgeon in Mangalore. As a physician i had given thrombolytic treatment and anticoagulants with anti platelets to many patients in my carrier. I had seen bleeding through urethra and purpuric spots big and small all over body in some cases. But this case is a different one and is quite interesting. The presentation in this case is not bleeding as such but as a femoral neuropathy presenting as acute left-sided thigh pain, paraesthesia, and weakness along with lower backache. Imaging studies revealed a a large mass in the left hypochondrium and iliac region which was confirmed as a retroperitoneal organizing hematoma contiguous with the left psoas and iliacus without any active bleeding in the abdomen. The massive dimensions of the lesion were 22 cm × 16 cm × 14 cm. The case was managed conservatively with cessation of anticoagulants, limb elevation and bed rest and had made complete neurological recovery at subsequent follow-up at 1 month.
We must appreciate this team for the successful management of this rare complication as a result of medical treatment.
