A study in The American Journal of Gastroenterology found irritable bowel syndrome patients with visceral hypersensitivity were more prone to symptoms of lactose intolerance, especially bloating, compared with a control group. “These findings will help clinicians provide a clear, evidence-based explanation for symptoms of food intolerance and IBS to their patients,” said researcher Dr. Mark Fox of University Hospital Zurich.
