Researchers develop 3-D approach to endoscopy
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are developing a photometric stereo approach to endoscopy that can detect topographical abnormalities in the colon, possibly making it easier to detect flatter precancerous growths. Initial testing, including a prototype the size of a colonoscope, showed the devices could create 3-D representations of polyps and flatter lesions using an artificial colon.
