An article about the benefits of eating fruits appeared in the Times news paper recently. The researcher from the University of Oxford, Huaidong Du conducted a study on nearly half a million people in China over a 7 year period.
His conclusion was that compared to those who did not eat any fruit, those who ate fruits daily reduced the risk of dying from cardio vascular disease by 25 to 40%. The more fruit you ate the more your CVD risk goes down.
He also indicated in his paper that unlike in the west where ischaemic heart disease was the main cause of death from CVD, in China stroke was the main cause.
