      Human papillomavirus vaccines

      How Supplied: Virus-like particles of the L1 protein of human papillomavirus (HPV): type 6 (20 microgram), type 11 (40 microgram), type 16 (40 microgram), type 18 (20 microgram).
      Pre-filled syringe, 0.5ml.

      Indications:

      Prevention of premalignant cervical, vulvar and vaginal lesions, cervical cancer and external genital warts causally related to certain HPV types.

      Adults:Schedule.

      0.5ml by im inj at 0, 2 and 6 months.

      Children:

      Under 9 years, not recommended; 9—13 years, 0.5ml by im inj at 0 and 6 months or at 0, 2 and 6 months; 14 years and over, as adult.

      General Warnings for Human papillomavirus vaccines
      Contraindications:

      Acute severe febrile illness. Pregnancy.

      Precautions:

      Thrombocytopenia, coagulation disorders. Impaired immune responsiveness.
      Cervarix, Also, lactation.

      Side Effects:

      Pyrexia, inj site reactions, GI upset, headache.
      Cervarix: Also, myalgia, arthralgia, skin disorders.
