Mammogram recommendations
Women aged 40 once every 2 years until age 50 & then annually.
If there is family history of breast ca then more aggressive follow up and early onset of screening recommended.
Prostate screening recommended for men aged 40 with a PSA and a digital rectal exam annually and follow up depending on results. Prostate is a very slow growing cancer.
Colon screening recommended for both men & women at age 50 and once every 10 years. Blacks have a higher incidence and the national guideline is to start screening them at age 45. The screening and surveillance is more frequent for those at high risk ie family history, previous polyps. There is a clear correlation between breast cancer and colon cancer as the genes responsible are very close to each other.
